How to Search the Groom Court Docket
Groom Municipal Court posts no online docket viewer for the public. Plan on calling. Before you touch any payment page, check the citation. Read the court name printed at the top. The City of Groom Municipal Court and JP Precinct 1 are separate offices. They use different phone numbers, addresses, duties, and payment vendors.
- Find the issuing court and citation number on the ticket.
- Call Groom Municipal Court at 806-248-7929 for a city citation.
- Call JP1 at 806-248-7444 when the citation names that court.
- Ask for status, appearance date, plea choices, amount, and copy route.
- Use the combined Carson clerk at 806-537-3873 only for county or district cases.
Statewide re:SearchTX can offer a second route for some county cases. It does not promise full municipal coverage. A name-only docket search can also pull up the wrong person, so the citation or cause number is the safer key.
Two Groom Courts, Two Custodians
Groom stands out in Carson County. It has both a city court and a county justice court with local addresses. Groom Municipal Court keeps city ordinance and Class C municipal cases. JP Precinct 1 takes the justice side. Its docket includes assigned traffic cases, small claims, debt claims, and evictions. Where the incident happened does not decide who holds the file.
| Route | Municipal Court | JP Precinct 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | 806-248-7929 | 806-248-7444 |
| P.O. Box 217 | P.O. Box 399 | |
| Focus | City ordinance and Class C cases | Justice traffic and civil matters |
| Payment | Verify nCourt scope first | Certified Payments code 7134959 |
Confused by an abbreviation? Call both offices before sending money. Give each clerk the citation number and the issuing agency. That quick check keeps you from paying the wrong bureau or missing the real Groom court date.
The Groom Municipal Court
The OCA directory lists Groom Municipal Court at P.O. Box 217, Groom, TX 79039-0217, reachable at 806-248-7929 and cityofgroom@amaonline.com. It shows the presiding-judge seat as vacant. Treat that entry as a dated public record, not proof that Groom has no working court.

Ask the municipal office who currently presides, how to request case copies, and whether certified copies are available. Groom posts no municipal copy form, fee schedule, public terminal, or trial calendar.
Groom nCourt Form Has Narrow Scope
The officially linked Groom vendor page carries a narrow title: City of Groom animal-control fines. That qualifier matters. The page is a payment form, not a searchable Groom docket. Before using it for a general traffic citation, check with the city. Ask them to confirm the specific ticket belongs there.
| Visible field | Type | What is known |
|---|---|---|
| Citation Number | Text | Enter the number from the notice |
| Reason | Dropdown | Options were not exposed |
| Comments | Text | Transaction note field |
| Resolution | Dropdown | Options were not exposed |
The vendor also takes payments by phone at 806-419-1642, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST. Those hours belong to the vendor. They are not a Groom court session schedule. Confirm applicability with Municipal Court before paying.
Groom Court Dates and Settings
A Groom hearing date comes from the citation or from the court holding the case. Neither the vendor form nor the OCA directory publishes a public calendar. Ask the city court or JP1 to repeat the date, time, location, and setting type. If the matter was reset, ask which notice controls. Also ask whether a new copy will be sent.
| Date | The current clerk-confirmed appearance or hearing date. |
|---|---|
| Time | The individual or docket-call time, not vendor hours. |
| Court | Groom Municipal Court or JP Precinct 1 as printed. |
| Number | The exact citation or cause number used by that court. |
| Setting | Appearance, plea, compliance, pretrial, or trial. |
Never assume a hearing was canceled just because a web search turns up nothing. Groom offers no online municipal calendar. Call the court to confirm.
Groom Payment Systems Stay Separate
Groom's two local courts do not share a vendor route. The city-linked nCourt form carries the animal-control label. JP1 publishes Certified Payments bureau code 7134959 and directs readers to use the TX number at the top of a citation. Do not substitute one system for the other.
Before payment: Confirm the court, amount, plea effect, and transaction code. Sending money to a vendor does not move a deadline in another court.
Want to contest a ticket? Ask the named court about its plea and appearance process instead of using a payment form. Keep your receipt after any approved transaction, then confirm the Groom case status was updated.
Groom Traffic Tickets
A city citation normally starts at Groom Municipal Court. A justice citation starts at JP1. The officer's location or a Groom mailing address will not settle the question. The court caption and citation number control the first call. Also ask whether the listed date is an appearance deadline or an actual hearing.
Groom publishes no general citation search, case-status filter, downloadable docket, or public document form. For the county-wide picture, see Carson traffic court records. That page is context only. The court printed on the ticket stays responsible for the case.
Groom Activity Report Is Aggregate
OCA's FY2025 municipal activity row used a report population of 537 and showed zero across the displayed civil, administrative, and criminal fields for September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025. The 2020 Census put Groom at 552. Different products, different vintages. Neither figure tells you anything about a single ticket.
What zero means: It is the submitted aggregate row for defined categories, not proof that no Groom citation or case has ever existed.
The municipal report also says nothing about JP1's separate caseload. Someone chasing one Groom ticket should contact the named court rather than trying to read case status out of a city-wide count.
Where Groom Cases End Up
Groom ordinance and Class C city cases stay municipal unless an appeal or transfer creates a record elsewhere. JP1 matters stay with the justice court. County and district case types go to the Carson County courts and 100th District Court through the combined clerk.
Docket flow: Groom Municipal Court › Carson County Courts › District Court
A case that starts in Groom can land somewhere else. Ask the first clerk which court received it. Ask what cause number it now carries. Then follow the Carson County court docket path from there. The original municipal record still exists after an appeal. The new court may assign a different number.
Groom Records Depend on Product
A status check is not the same as a copy request. A docket sheet, a plain copy, and a certified copy are separate products too. Municipal Court can identify its own case and walk you through its copy route, JP1 handles the justice records, and the combined clerk holds the county and district files. Name the exact product you need. That way staff will not have to guess.
- Status
- The present procedural state of a Groom case.
- Docket sheet
- The list of filings, events, settings, and outcomes.
- Plain copy
- An ordinary reproduction without custodian certification.
- Certified copy
- An authenticated copy issued by the proper custodian.
Groom posts no municipal fee or certification schedule. Ask about cost, accepted payment, and delivery before you submit a copy request. Describe the item precisely. Give the court name, the citation or cause number, the rough date, and the document title. When the number is unclear, name the court. Was it Groom Municipal Court or JP1? That one detail keeps a city clerk out of a county justice file. It keeps the justice office out of a city case. For an older record, ask about retrieval time. Ask whether the court mails it or requires a counter visit. Do not treat the nCourt payment receipt as a certified docket copy. The vendor page processes a transaction. It does not authenticate the court file.
Public Access to Groom Court Records
Texas court case records do not run through the ordinary Public Information Act request process. Statutes, court rules, common law, and the holding court's own access process govern them instead. City administrative records may qualify for the PIA. Even so, that route cannot defeat a seal. It cannot defeat any confidentiality rule that applies.
Access rules:
Texas judiciary policy explains the distinction among case, judicial, and governmental records.
Government Code Chapter 552 governs covered public information while recognizing the judiciary boundary.
Family Code Chapter 58 restricts juvenile records.
If part of a Groom record is restricted, ask for the public portion. A clerk can also tell you whether the record sits in another office and what identifying detail that office needs.
When a Groom Search Fails
Most failed searches are routing errors. Recheck whether the ticket names Municipal Court or JP1, and verify every digit. Ask whether the matter was transferred, appealed, archived, or filed under another number. Then call the receiving office.
- Do not treat the animal-control vendor page as a general docket.
- Do not use the JP1 bureau code for a municipal case.
- Do not infer a court date from vendor phone hours.
- Do not infer case absence from the zero aggregate row.
This Groom checklist keeps the inquiry with the one court that can verify the record.
Groom Vendor Page Shows Payment Fields
The Groom nCourt vendor page shows the actual transaction fields without exposing a private citation.

The official page lists Citation Number, Reason, Comments, and Resolution controls. It shows no Groom docket events, court dates, or general traffic coverage.
